About the Department

Though Practice of Medicine is based on the modern medicine, Homoeopathy makes a deviation from  that, It treats the patient as a whole by assessing an individual’s genetic predisposition of developing various diseases relying upon the psychosomatic approach thus aiming at personalized medication. It therefore imperatively pre-supposes to know the Man in both health and disease. Hence a study on applied Anatomy including Developmental Anatomy, Physiology and Biochemistry along with their parameters relating to various systems and special senses embracing Psychology and Ecology to assess the state of health and diseases should be undertaken. By keeping this in mind, every disease should be studied so as to understand it in relation to aetiology and pathogenesis, considering both Internal (fundamental cause i.e. Psora, Syphills, Sycosis) and External Causes (Exciting and Maintaining), its Pathology, Clinical Features through Physical Examination and Investigations, complications, Differential Diagnosis and its management including Miasmatic Analysis and Homoeopathic Management , General Management.

 Practice of medicine as a core subject in homoeopathic curriculum at undergraduate level, we follows variety of learning programmes such as lecture cum demonstration, individualised instructions, seminars, group discussions, bed-side clinical examinations and discussions, quiz(JNAANAM) and innovative approach such as Forum for Interactive Learning(FIL). As a unique practice, the department adopt Objective Structured Clinical Examination(OSCE) to evaluate clinical skill performance of students. In order to provide competent and qualified faculty , we offer post graduate programme in  Practice of medicine from 2010 onwards.we have also started PhD programme in Practice of medicine from 2018 onwards.


Salient Features

Teaching methodology: well qualified and experienced faculties of Department will be  taking the class  by didactic lectures and power point presentations,Experential learning(clinical demonstrations),Project based learning(seminars)Patient –centric and Evidence based learning(IP case presentations)Participatory learning(group discussions) Integrated/interdisciplinary learning(skill lab),Role play(Forum for interactive learning(FIL)-differential diagnosis of each symptom will be presented dramatically by the students and Learning in the humanities(Bed-side Physical examination class).

Other Features

Student Log Book:  A log book is maintained for the final year BHMS students and for the post graduate students for recording their work done and over all assessment of the student.

Forum For Interactive Learning (Signs & Syndromes): FIL– have a unique role in the enrichment of theoretical and practical    skills of  students of  IVth year, which aims to improve their knowledge in different signs and syndroms.

Skill Enhancement For Early Diagnosis (Seed) – has a unique role in the enrichment of theoretical and practical skill of students of final BHMS. Provisional diagnosis and differential diagnosis,significant findings, systemic examinations and special investigations will be discussed about the particular case.

Students Litero Cultural Museum.

            Aimed to develop literature and cultural activity of students along with academic    performance.

JNAANAM : One day quiz programme conducted in the department from their curriculum exclusively for Final BHMS.


As a part of awards and rewards, department of practice of medicine conducting this programme  for appreciating and encouraging the toppers.Prizes will be distributed for the  rank holders of  Final BHMS and Ist part PG examination and the students who got 1st position in practice of medicine


Department have a special exhibition wing, which conducts two exhibitions each year.


Department comprises with Well established Museum with Collection of sophisticated equipments and instruments.

B.L.S (Basic Life Support) Training.

     Provide BLS workshops as that the BLS Instructor-led course teaches  both  single rescuer and team basic life support skills for application in both pre hospital  and in- facility environments, with a focus on High-Quality CPR and team dynamics.

Skill Lab Utilization.
